Aboriginal Voices Radio is working with commercial broadcaster NewCap, a company that will inject $4.2 Million into the Aboriginal network if it gets licenced itself in Vancouver. The theme is new voices and new radio for Vancouver.
Harinder Dhillon of the Capital Region Race Relations Association speaks to the CRTC hearings about employment equity and making a difference by introducing new voices into the community based on an inclusive plan to reflect the real Vancouver.

CRTC Hearings began November 20th

The CRTC launches hearings in Burnaby, including the application for a Native radio licence for Vancouver, by Gary Farmer and Aboriginal Voices Radio.
The AVR presentation will take place Thursday, November 23rd.
On November 28th interventions begin, including support from Aboriginal organizations.
Support has come from the National Aboriginal Veterans Association BC Chapter, the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, the Interior Alliance, First Nations Summit, the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, The United Native Nations, Vancouver Metis Association, Vancouver Aboriginal Council, Squamish Nation, Musqueam First Nation, First Peoples Cultural Foundation, Institute of Indigenous Government, Vancouver Native Health, the Native Education Centre, Vancouver and Victoria Native Friendship Centres, Chehalis Indian Band, Gwawaenuk Tribe, Kwicksutaineuk Ahkwaw'mish, Musgamagw Tsawataineuk Tribal Council, Tswaataineuk Band Council, the T'Sou-ke Nation, Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, Redwire Magazine, Kla How Ya FM radio, William George at UVIC radio and all the many students there too, also Aboriginal businesses - Cree Industries, Reztown Lighting and Sound, Turtleback Productions, Catch A Dream, Full Circle, broadcaster Andrea Ring ... also the BC Government and Service Employees Union, the BC Government's Aboriginal Economic Initiatives Office, Senator Thelma Chalafoux, Member of Parliament Rick Laliberte ... to name just a few.
Intervenors on behalf of Aboriginal Voices Radio include the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres and many of of the above.
