President Stewart Phillip
speaks in support of Aboriginal Voices Radio (AVR) application and its corporate partnership proposal with NewCap Broadcasting. First proposal of its kind for the Canadian broadcasting system...a creative, business oriented way for an Aboriginal radio network to receive a solid, healthy launch.

Aboriginal Voices Radio is seeking a radio licence for Vancouver as part of the plan for a national radio network, for and by Aboriginal people. It has approval for a licence to operate in Toronto . The AVR emphasis is on a national perspective, linking Aboriginal people from coast to coast to coast. But to ensure it meets the urgent needs of the community, it needs to have enough funding to accelerate establishment of the national network.

Aboriginal Voices Radio is working with commercial broadcaster NewCap, a company that will inject $4.2 Million into the Aboriginal network if it gets licenced itself in Vancouver. The theme is new voices and new radio for Vancouver. Harinder Dhillon of the Capital Region Race Relations Association speaks to the CRTC hearings about employment equity and making a difference by introducing new voices into the community based on an inclusive plan to reflect the real Vancouver.
