It is with sadness, we report the passing of Jim Cooper of T'Sou-ke Nation on Vancouver Island.

Mr. Cooper, a community elder and well known former chief, passed away on Sunday afternoon December 23rd at his home, at the age of 78.

Condolences to Jim's daughters Sandra and Ardyth and all their relations.

NOTE: Prayer service 7:00pm Thursday December 27, 2007 at the T'Sou-ke Nation Nation Band Hall, 2154 Lazzar Rd. with the Funeral Service 10:00am Friday December 28, 2007 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Sooke.

COOPER, James Francis October 7, 1929 December 23, 2007

Predeceased by his mother Susan Lazzar, father George Cooper and son Greg; he is survived by partner Eunice George, daughters Ardyth (David) Cooper, Sandy (Will) Brown and Peggy Sue Lazzar; grandchildren Dwayne, Teyemtenot and Lydia; great-grandchildren Trent and Taya Bonkoski.

A gentleman by nature, Jim will be fondly remembered for his humour, physical and mental strengths, devotion to family and community, which he served as an elected chief for 20 years.

His integrity and innate wisdom were evident through his stories, which reflected his connection to the world and knowledge of our history.
