Preparing Native Students for Health Careers

The Association of American Indian Physicians
is accepting applications for the 14th Annual Patty Iron Cloud National Native American Youth Initiative,
which will be held on the George Washington University campus in Washington, D.C., June 18-26.

American Indian and Alaska Native high school students ages 16-18 who have an interest in the health field or biomedical research are encouraged to apply. Selected students will receive a scholarship that will cover airfare, lodging, and most meals. The curriculum is designed to prepare high school students for admission to college and professional schools, as well as for careers in health and biomedical research. The student application deadline is March 25.

The association also is recruiting adults ages 21 and older to serve as role models and chaperones to students. AAIP will cover airfare, lodging, meals, and provide a stipend upon completion of the program. The counselor application deadline is March 6.
