Chemainus First Nation mourns passing of a leader

Chemainus First Nation mourns passing of a leader

58 year old Chief Peter Seymour of Chemainus First Nation passed away June 4, 2008.

The funeral arrangements are as follows:

Prayers 7pm Friday June 6, Chemainus Community Centre

Funeral 9:30am Saturday, June 7, Chemainus Community Centre

Chief Seymour was well known for his Coast Salish cultural knowledge. He was a mask and canoe carver.

Obituary

SEYMOUR, Peter Cecil John Chief of the Chemainus First Nations, Ladysmith, BC.

Passed away in Nanaimo Hospital on June 04, 2008, born in Vancouver, BC. on December 28, 1949.

Predeceased by his father Hamilton, granddaughter Angelina, sister Leona. Survived by his loving wife Gertrude, sons: Peter and Gordon, daughter Stacy, grandsons; Jordan, Kyle, Hamilton, Alec, Johnny and Moses, granddaughters: Jordana and Natalie, his mother Myra Seymour, brothers; Herman, Greg and Gilbert, uncle Max Seymour and aunt Ella Louie, also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Prayers Friday June 06, 2008 at 7;00 pm Chemainus First Nation's Community Centre, 3949 Shell Beach Rd., Ladysmith, BC;

Funeral Service Saturday, June 07, 2008 at 9:30 am in the Community Centre, followed by burial in the Kulleet Bay Cemetery.
