Chief Kenneth Bruce Harris, age 81, died peacefully with his family at his side at Acropolis Manor in Prince Rupert, BC.

Ken was born April 30th, 1928 in Andimal outside of Kitwanga, BC and spent most of his life in Prince Rupert, BC with his wife Margaret who he was married to for 56 years.

He retired at 58 years of age to attain his Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Law from the University of British Columbia where he also served as an Elder and advisor to the President and the First Nations House of Learning.

His work for Aboriginal peoples was influential and extensive on a national level.

His life’s legacy he left to his family was to ensure that our cultural identity was deeply rooted and well nourished. And this was only one aspect of the extensive work he did to revive and strengthen the many Aboriginal communities.

We invite you to join us for a small gathering at UBC First Nations House of Learning on Tuesday, April 27th at 7pm to honour his memory.
