Iroquois Nationals

Postby Field Lacrosse » Mon Jun 09, 2008 2:46 pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 9, 2008 – The Iroquois Nationals World Field Lacrosse Team are pleased to announce they are competing in the Under 19 World Field Lacrosse Championships to be held in Coquitlam, British Columbia from July 3-12, 2008 at Percy Perry Stadium.

The team has assembled 26 elite athletes from both sides of the border. They were selected from the more than 130 athletes who participated in training camps and tournaments last fall. They will compete with 11 other countries for Under 19 lacrosse supremacy. Our first game is July 3, 2008 against the United States. The USA has never lost a game in the history of the Under 19 Games; they are the defending World Champions.

The Iroquois Nationals Program is recognized as a nation by the International Lacrosse Federation (ILF). The Program has implemented a Resource Development Campaign in Canada and the United States to generate the $162,000 CDN necessary to operate and send the young athletes to British Columbia.

Team jerseys and shorts are sponsored by Nike Inc. Brine lacrosse sponsors all of the equipment including helmets, gloves, shoulder pads, rib pads, shafts, slash guards and lacrosse balls for the Program. We appreciate their support of the Nationals Program.

If you have any questions, regarding the Iroquois Nationals Program and know anyone who would like to assist the Program with a financial contribution, please ask them to contact Kevin Sandy, Iroquois Nationals Board Member/Campaign Coordinator at 519-732-0387 (Business Cell) and/or 519-759-8605 (Home). Mr. Sandy is open to explaining benefits for potential sponsors and/or forwarding any packages to interested companies, First Nations, Métis corporations, Inuit groups, tribal councils or corporate sponsors. You can also contact Gewas Schindler, Coach at 905-768-9199 to discuss sponsorship for the program.
