SIGA Reports Increased Revenues in 2011-2012

Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) announced today revenues of $267.2M and a profit of $81.6M for the 2011/2012 fiscal year. This represents an increase of 27% over the previous year’s net earnings.

As a non-profit corporation, 100 percent of SIGA’s profits are distributed to its beneficiaries in
Saskatchewan. SIGA as a company owned by the First Nations of Saskatchewan, fully reports its financial and operational performance to its shareholders and the public.

Profits generated from SIGA's operations are administered by the Province of Saskatchewan.
50% is shared with the First Nations Trust which is distributed to Saskatchewan First Nation
communities;
25% is shared with regional Community Development Corporations (CDCs) which are situated in
the casino locations for local initiatives;
25% is shared with the Provincial Government's general revenue fund.

As previously reported by SIGA, the mild weather and favourable market conditions including a strong provincial economy contributed to increased visitation to the casinos and to their overall revenue. This growth can also be attributed to SIGA’s focus on efficiency improvements and to significant capital reinvestment over the last number of years.
“The improvements to our facilities and our focus on a number of operational enhancements have improved the entertainment experience for our customers and will provide long-term sustainable returns for our beneficiaries” said Zane Hansen, SIGA President and CEO.

“I am pleased to say this resulted in net earnings of $81.6M for 2011-2012, making this the fifth straight year of net earnings above $60M. I want to thank our customers for their continued patronage and thank our employees who do us proud by offering traditional First Nations hospitality which is second to none.”

“Throughout the year, SIGA and its casinos support hundreds of organizations and events. By embracing and implementing the teachings of our Elders, we foster our philanthropic commitment by giving back to our communities. This important guiding principle is inherent in who we are as a First Nations organization. Through "Sharing Success" initiatives, and the staff’s commitment to volunteerism - SIGA will continue to build and enrich communities in Saskatchewan and as a result, everyone will benefit,” said Chief Edward Henderson, SIGA Acting Board Chair.

“As one of the largest First Nations organizations in the country, with over 1900 people SIGA provides employment for over 1300 First Nations people. Since opening its doors 16 years ago, SIGA has generated over $600 million dollars in revenue for our beneficiaries.”

100% of profits from SIGA’s gaming operations are returned to its beneficiaries. Our family of casinos offer a distinctive First Nations entertainment experience that reflects the traditional aspects of First Nations heritage and hospitality. They are entertainment and tourist attractions that deliver added value to the communities in which they operate.
