Especially welcome are achievements, success stories, cultural descriptions and anything that can help move Metis forward. Here we invite the sharing of things that enhance the lives of individual Metis, their children, families and communities.

Of course the tough issues need to be addressed too and are posted here as well.

BCMF Cultural Gathering in Kelly Lake Featuring Theo Fleury, August 10th - 12th

Final preparations have been made and the cultural event being hosted by the BC Métis Federation in Kelly Lake is ready to go beginning next Friday at 6:00 PM. The event will be held at the school with plenty of parking available for anyone with an RV, camper or tent. BC Métis Federation has now posted suggested hotels that are close to the event on our website. The Kelly Lake school committee will host food services where food and drinks can be purchased all weekend. This is an important part of the event and a way to assist the future maintenance of the facility in Kelly Lake.

The Métis cultural gathering will feature 8 Métis bands that will provide a musical showcase for people to enjoy all weekend long. There will be a number of jigging lessons and performances to teach and enjoy for all. A number of other Métis cultural activities have been arranged for people to learn or participate including a tanning display, viewing a moose lick (and hopefully a moose), plus much more for all to enjoy.

The Métis cultural gathering event agenda has now been updated and all event information is available on the BC Métis Federation website.

We strongly encourage you and your family to attend next weekend and enjoy our Métis culture. The event is by donation and we hope those in attendance will donate to support the costs to the BC Métis Federation for bringing together this great event.

The BC Métis Federation knows this is the Métis event of the year and one that you do not want to miss.
