Scholarship Fund for Okanagan First Nation students

2012 Building Communities Scholarship Fund

July 2012

As a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, Urban Systems has provided award-winning expertise in civil engineering, urban planning and landscape architecture to Okanagan First Nation communities since 1975. Urban Systems is extremely proud of the relationships that have been developed over the past thirty seven years.

Through contributions from the Urban Systems Foundation, a charitable arm of our company that provides financial and volunteer support for community projects both locally and abroad, we are pleased to introduce the 2012 Building Communities Scholarship Fund which will provide up to $10,000 in scholarship funds specifically for Okanagan first nation students entering into the fields of civil engineering, urban planning, environmental studies or landscape architecture degree programs in a Canadian post-secondary institution.
The scholarship award includes ongoing support to the successful applicants, with education and career guidance, mentoring support and opportunities for paid work experience and/or summer internships.

To be eligible, applicants must be a member of the Okanagan Nation, and be:
Registered or currently attending an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution, and;
Maintaining a full course load that leads to a recognized degree in one of the following disciplines:
o Civil Engineering
o Urban Planning
o Environmental Studies
o Landscape Architecture
The deadline for applications is midnight on July 30, 2012.

HOW TO APPLY:
The following information must be included to be considered for this scholarship:
1. Completed application form
2. Three References
3. Covering letter describing why you are a good candidate for the scholarship
4. Proof of enrolment in an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution
Completed scholarship applications must be received by midnight on July 30, 2012 attention to Jaime McCormick – Urban Systems – 2012 Building Communities Scholarship Fund at 304-1353 Ellis Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1Z9. Electronic submissions will also be accepted at fnscholarship@urbansystems.ca
