Poundmaker First Nation shaken by TLE scandal . . .

A seven year long investigation by the Mounties in Saskatchewan has resulted in numerous charges being laid against 9 current and former chiefs, band councillors and other officials of Poundmaker First Nation.

Chief Duane Antoine and band Councilor Colin Favel face theft, fraud and breach of trust charges in connection with misspending of treaty land entitlement funds.

The Mounties say the charges relate to crimes that occurred between June and July 2003.

Charges have also been laid against 67 year old Irene Tootoosis, 66 year old Victoria McMillan, 65 year old Hickson Weenie, 61 year old Norman Antoine, 58 year old Bryan Tootoosis, 55 year old Ted Antoine, and 55 year old Burton Baptiste.

They are to appear in court Aug. 16th.

No word yet on how much they allegedly siphoned off the TLE funds.
